1. Discussing the situation with others, and getting their feedback.
2. Writing about it in my journal or blog.
3. Turning off the television, the media, the source that keeps pounding us with grievous facts over and over and over.
4. Drinking lots of tea with cream while sitting quietly.
5. Looking to the children in my class for their joy and childlike perspectives.
6. Reading.
7. Imagining, if I can't go there in person, that I am on my favorite island in the Northwoods.
8. Listening to beautiful music, even a requiem which gives you permission to be sad.
9. Taking a walk with our dog, who has one blue eye and one brown.
10. Visiting my favorite bloggers to see their perspectives.
11. Reviewing photographs of happy times.
12. Rereading meaningful letters that I have saved.
13. Remembering this verse: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7

It's wonderful that you have so many ways to take care of yourself! *hugs*
My TT is up...
Great list of comforting things! Really.
Great List!! This horrible tragedy at VT has made everyone in the country FEEL just a little bit more. Thank you for sharing!
Seems like we find comfort in similar ways. Except I don't like tea or coffee. I do like the "art" of tea. I collect teacups. I'll drink my lemonade or coke in a teacup. I know it sounds funny, but I sure do enjoy drinking out of pretty teacups.
We live on 5 acres out in the country, so I really don't take Nicodemus (our golden retriever) for a walk. I do like to sit out in our hammock. So peaceful. Helps me to appreciate God's creation.
I also find comfort in talking with my loved ones, fellow bloggers, music and scriptures. Thank you for sharing 2 Timothy 1:7.
This is a great list, Bellezza. Thank you for sharing it with us. I have watched far too much CNN and as a result have a very, very heavy heart. So much of what has been said by the media, the families, and the victims' friends brings to mind so many of my own emotions from two years ago. Enough. I won't watch anymore and since it's such a beautiful spring day, I'm heading out for a walk. It's my hope that an hour of exercise & music will clear my head and allow me to put this heartbreaking story behind me.
This is a wonderful list. Thanks for sharing. Music is one of the things from which I find the most comfort.
I love your list, and it was a wonderful theme for this week. So many of these things are very comforting to me too.
A wonderful list. I am about to make #4 now, but with 1% milk. I may even have a cookie...
Happy TT; my heart wasn't in it this week.
Shelley, I need to come visit you. Thanks for stopping by here.
Carl, I liked how you wrote something about literature and art being our great escape; or at least that's the gist of what I picked up from your post. Aren't we blessed to have such outlets? As well as one another?
Stephanie, I'm starting to feel I'm FEELing too much. It's time to lighten up in my posts, I think.
Lady G-I learn more about you every time you comment. You are one of the few who share my love of the Word, and for that I'm deeply grateful.
Les, I think turning it all off and going outside is the best thing we can do. I hope that your walk was restorative physically, mentally, emotionally. If only my feet didn't ache so much at the end of teaching all day; I long for the walk by the river across from our house.
l^2, I wonder what music you like best.
Christina, like Shelley, I need to come visit you. It seems we have some of the same ideas.
ms. george, 1% milk does not qualify as 'healing'. You go buy yourself some half and half right now, and pour it in that tea. Then you'll know what heaven is like, if it could be poured into a cup.
I love that scripture. It gives me a sense of empowerment that a tragedy like this can steal from us.
Framed, that makes me so happy! I must resort to His Word at times like these because fear creeps in and I am at a loss of understanding certain circumstances. All I have, some days, is my trust.
Lovely list, Bellezza!
I've definitely found my blog friends and blogging very helpful when I'm feeling down for whatever reason.
Tea really is one of the world's comfort drinks isn't it? Good list.
Happy T13
quixotic, it's so great to open a blog and find a person who shares your sentiments. Or, at least opens your mind to a new point of view.
fence, normally, I'm such a coffee face. But my grandmother and I shares do many pots of tea together I find myslef turning to that for solace. I once read about coffee being for the fast, and tea for the slow. Even the process of making each drink involves different speeds, I think.
Bellezza.. I just wanted to drop by and say personal farewell to those who have touched my life via COAHTR.
I wish you well, Bellezza. You've been a good friend.
Love and Blessings to you and your family.
I will visit.
penny, when I first read this (during Spelling) I about freaked. But, the more I think about it, the more I see that stopping a blog would be a healthy thing. Especially once it starts consuming you. As I left a comment on your blog, I won't go into a good-bye here, other than to say May He Bless You and Keep You, forevermore. Love, Bellezza
